THE EDCO-MANVILLE PARTNERS PROGRAM

Program

Students are expected to meet state and home-district graduation requirements, including meeting MCAS competency determination. Mainstreaming into Brookline High School general education classes is determined on a case-by-case basis. Students also have the opportunity to participate in Brookline High School clubs and activities as well as attend school assemblies and school events.

The Program includes:

Daily data collection to track student progress towards Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals
Academic content aligned with Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks
Emphasis on realistic self-evaluation skills
Focus on developing self advocacy skills and increasing age appropriate independence
Intensive and continuous social and life skills instruction
Transition planning support and education for families
Frequent field trips into the community to practice skills in settings outside of the classroom environment

 

Summer Program

An optional five-week summer program is offered where students will:
Learn and practice use of public transportation
Visit local college campuses
Explore an array of different job sites
Participate in community service
Prepare for upcoming standardized tests such as MCAS, PSAT, SAT, as well as Massachusetts driver's education written test
Enjoy social field trips to practice social interaction skills

 

Transition Planning

The EDCO Manville Partners Program supports students and their families through the often-overwhelming process of transition planning, and provides:
A progressive relationship with MAss Bay Community College
An optional fifth year transition program
Advanced life and social skills training
An on-site college campus mentor
